Clint Thomas

As practice leader, Clint brings over 25 years of experience in serving clients from a variety of industries. His specialty is in working with government contractors, technology companies, small to mid-sized closely held service businesses of all types as well as high net worth individuals. In addition to his CPA designation, Clint is also a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and able to perform valuation and expert testimony engagements. He also has experience with Merger and Acquisition engagements as well as the field of International Tax. Having been raised in his family construction business in Oklahoma, Clint's entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to help other business owner's succeed directs our vision and direction at RKN.

Jesse Wetherington

Jesse joined Rubin, Koehmstedt & Nadler in 1993 after serving as a controller for one of the firm clients. Prior to that he worked as an assistant controller for a chain of retail stores with approximately 40 locations in eight states. While working his way through college, he served as an operations manager for a retail chain, a regional manager for a frozen yogurt company and a quality control supervisor and trainer at a long distance call operations center. Jesse holds Bachelor of Arts degrees in both Mathematics and Economics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, a certificate of Advanced Study in Accounting from Guilford College and a Masters degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the Keller Graduate School of Management.

Kathleen Ecott

Having initially been a part of the RKN team from 2003 – 2012, Kathleen returned to our firm in May 2018 after having worked for a client for 6 years. Kathleen has over 30 years of accounting experience in both profit and nonprofit organizations of all sizes. Her expertise spans various industries including real estate, education and healthcare. Her responsibilities for the firm are primarily accounting services and tax return preparation. She is currently working towards completing a degree in Business Information Systems at DeVry University.

John joined the team in 2020 with 2 years of prior public accounting experience with a focus on tax planning and tax return preparation. He graduated from Shenandoah University in 2017 with a BA in Accounting. While in school he worked on a cattle/ horse farm as a farm hand. He enjoys meeting new people and working closely with clients to help them minimize their tax liability and increase their tax efficiency.

In her leisure time, Mahak loves spending time with her friends and family.

I earned my BS in Accounting at Virginia Tech in 1990 and spent more than half of my 30-year career working in the public sector. In addition, for 17 years, I assisted my husband in running his small business – a Salesforce.com consulting company with 25 employees across more than a dozen states. I know firsthand how challenging it can be to grow a successful business while making sure the financial functions are covered.

My focus is on providing responsive, personalized service to my clients. My ultimate goal is to help you, whatever that looks like – whether it be resolving problems, reconciling accounts, and cleaning up your Quickbooks, preparing your annual tax returns, or advising you on more complex matters.

I am licensed in the states of Virginia and Tennessee and a member of the Virginia Society of CPAs. I am also a Certified Quickbooks ProAdvisor.

Nancy Hurst

After 20 years as a small business owner, Nancy spent several years at a large public accounting firm gaining expertise in business personal property, trust and sales tax compliance. Parlaying her small business ownership experience, she has worked in both the for-profit as well as the non-profit sectors and now focuses on tax preparation, planning and bookkeeping. In addition to her EA Certification, Nancy is also a Quickbooks Pro Advisor and joined the RKN Team in 2020.

Zachary Bucklen

Zach joined RKN in 2024 with over 10 years of diversified tax, accounting, and financial statement assurance experience. His experience is primarily in serving businesses and individuals in tax strategy and compliance, as well as financial statement assurance for businesses in various industries including construction, technology, government contractors, non-profit organizations, and employee benefit plans. Prior to joining RKN, he led an internal audit team at Verizon in designing risk-based financial and operational audits of the company's internal controls, systems, and processes after spending 8 years in public accounting. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Master of Professional Accountancy degree from West Virginia University.

He has worked directly with business owners, assisting them with business and personal finances.

Erin oversees daily operations of the firm and reports directly to the managing partner.
